The Tyrone girls volleyball team traveled to Claysburg on Tuesday night defeating Claysburg-Kimmel in two straight games.
The Lady Eagles extended their record to 10-2 with 15-1, 15-3 triumphs over the Lady Bulldogs.
Stephanie Catich led the way with 15 service points, including three aces. Lauren Haag had four kills and Amber DelBaggio had 10 assists.
“We had some problems during the first game,” commented Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg, “so the score wasn’t a good indication of our performance. The girls sat through a long junior varsity game and I’m sure they were concerned about their teammate (Samantha Friday) who had to be taken to the hospital with an injury. They were able to regain their focus and played very well the second game. We have to practice hard tonight and get ready for West Branch on Thursday. They will be coming here confident after beating Bishop Guilfoyle.”
West Branch handed BG their first league loss in 54 matches on Monday night.
The Tyrone Lady Eagle junior varsity team lost to the Claysburg-Kimmel junior varsity in the preliminary contest two games to one.
Claysburg-Kimmel defeated the Tyrone Jayvees 15-4, 9-15, 15-13, with Ashley Roth scoring seven service points for the Lady Eagles.
