The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court of St. Rita, #523 held a reception of new members on Wednesday, October 2, at the Msgr Harkins Hall, Tyrone with over 40 people in attendance.
The meeting was conducted by Dorothy Fleming, treasurer, due to the absence of the regent and Vice Regent.
Rose Castagnola was ceremony coordinator, Ellie Cannistraci, Jean Dixon, Jane Ivasile, Martha Hagg, Dorothy Irvin and Sara Castagnola were the Color Guards, Banner Bearers and Guides. Leona Hagg escorted the new members to their seats.
Donna Strum, District Deputy, from Hollidaysburg, conducted the new members ceremony and each new member was presented a long stem pink rose from the Court.
A short business meeting followed with the reading of last month’s minutes given by Robin Miller. Treasurers report was given by Dorothy Fleming. A letter of thanks was received from St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for the cancelled stamps and greeting cards they received from Dorothy Irvin, Chairman of that CDA project.
Discussions took part concerning the November 17th Christmas Botique followed with Marcella Hunter skating tickets are now available for the luncheon that day.
Cathy Dixon has tickets ready for the Christmas party to be held December 4, 2002.
Dorothy Irvin, Membership Chairman gave each new member a ceramic pumpkin bear as a keep sake of the date of becoming a CDA member.
Refreshments were served following the meeting. Dorothy Irvin, was the Chairman along with Evelyn Stever and Virginia Frontz.
