Northern Blair Relay Chairman Bob Whiteford is shown welcoming teams and spectators to Friday’s event. He and his wife Barb shared responsibilities for the entire Relay again this year. Additionally, ‘Buck’ and Barb are also at the helm of the DelGrosso Foods team.

Last Friday the Northern Blair County Relay for Life was held at Bellwood Memorial Stadium.
The torch arrived at the activities prior to the opening ceremonies at noon. Robert “Buck” Whiteford welcomed everyone and teams carried their banners around the track for the opening lap.
A survivor dinner was held and evening ceremonies included the Mt. Laurel Day Care Center singing the National Anthem. Entertainment was also provided by Andrea’s School of Dance and Kristen Otto. On Saturday, the awards ceremony, closing remarks and final lap were held.
For fun, a he/she beauty contest was held where males dressed like females and females dressed like males.
There were also movies, games and snacks throughout the evening.
This year’s chairmen were Bob and Barb Whiteford and the 2007 ambassador was Ron Detwiler. Twenty-one teams participated in this year’s events including churches, businesses, schools and groups from Northern Blair County.
