Old Route 220 in Snyder Township was the scene of a two vehicle accident one mile north of the Bald Eagle intersection, June 21.
Hollidaysburg State Police report that Dee Dee Klinger, age 22, of Morrisdale, PA was traveling north on SR 220 in the northbound lane and Bethany Stark, age 24, of Tyrone was stopped in the northbound lane of Route 220 waiting to make a left turn. Klinger failed to observe that Stark was stopped and struck the back of Stark’s vehicle.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

Old Route 220 was the scene of a one vehicle accident approximately 1.5 miles south of Port Matilda Borough in Taylor Township, June 21.
Philipsburg State Police report that Kathy Cutler, age 42, of Manassas, Virginia was traveling north and a deer entered the roadway from the east berm and into the path of Cutler’s vehicle. Cutler attempted to avoid the deer, but was unable to do so and struck the deer with the left front corner of her vehicle.
Cutler was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.

Old Route 220 was the scene of a two vehicle accident approximately one fourth of a mile south of Fowler Hollow Road in Taylor Township, June 24.
Philipsburg State Police report that Teresa Anne Howell of Mifflinburg, PA was northbound on Old Route 220. Another vehicle, a 1995 Toyota Camry, the driver unknown, was southbound on Route 220. The driver of the 1995 Toyota was passing several vehicles and quickly steered to the right to squeeze between two vehicles.
At that time, the driver of the ’95 Toyota lost control and fishtailed into the oncoming lane (northbound lane). At that point, the left rear of the 1995 Toyota struck the left front of Howell’s vehicle.
Upon impact, the 1995 Toyota spun counter clockwise and came to rest in the middle of Old Route 220, facing east. Howell’s vehicle continued northbound for approximately 300 feet and came to rest in the northbound lane facing north.
After the 1995 Toyota came to rest, the operator drove it southbound on Old Route 220 for approximately 500 feet and pulled into a parking lot. The operator of the vehicle then walked in a westerly direction through a field and disappeared into a wooded area.
Members of the Port Matilda Fire Company and Bald Eagle Fire Company made a search of the area with negative results. The State Police helicopter was brought in to search the area.
The whereabouts of the operator of the 1995 Toyota are still unknown. Arrangements had been made to bring in a canine search and rescue team. Howell received minor injuries in the crash.
