A new year is about to begin and folks in the area eagerly await the arrival of the first baby in the Tyrone area. The Daily Herald starts off the year with one of our most popular contests as we join forces with area merchants to award great prizes to one set of lucky expectant parents with our “First Baby of the Year Contest”, and at the same time award one our readers a 13 week subscription if you can correctly guess the weight of the new year’s first born.
To qualify as the winner, the baby’s parents must reside in The Daily Herald’s circulation area and the exact time of birth must specified by the attending physician or midwife. A written statement must be submitted to The Daily Herald no late than January 10th, 2003, and in the event of a tie, awards will be distributed at the committee’s discretion. Some incredible prizes will be given to the family of the first “bundle of joy” born from these fine merchants. As of this writing, gifts from Rose Garden Gifts, Nelson Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Geo, G and R Excavating and Demolition, Martin General Stores, MI Hallmark and the Tyrone New Agency, The Beauty Salon, Sheetz of Tyrone, DelGrosso Foods, Mario’s Pizza Palace, McClellan’s Body Shop, A Little Shop of Flowers and Gifts, Community Pharmacy, Ace Fix It Hardware, LaScalia’s Restaurant, Kopp Drug, Racer’s Sports Bar and Restaurant, Morris Levine Family Shoe, Simpson Street Fashion Outlet, The Bull Pen, Scents of Life, Mac’s Market, New Look and Engelman Florist and Green House will be ready and waiting the new proud parents.
In the second contest for our readers the rules are simple. Guess the weight (closet to pounds and ounces) and you could win a thirteen week subscription to The Daily Herald. In the event of a tie, one winner will be chosen at random. All entries must be received by 1 p.m. on December 31st, 2002. Look for the entry forms and additional details including the complete list of prizes in tomorrow’s edition of The Daily Herald. Who will win? Will it be a boy or a girl? Good luck to everyone and Happy New Year!
