The Tyrone swim teams split with Marion Center on Wednesday. Traveling to the Stingers home pool, the Tyrone boys defeated Marion Center 94-56 to improve to 7-1 on the season, while the girls fell to the Lady Stingers 103-64 to fall to 2-6.
Eric Nulton won the 100 freestyle and was second in the 50 freestyle and as a member of the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle to lead the boys. Brian Pearson took the 100 backstroke and led off the 200 medley relay. David Collins got a win in the 100 butterfly and had seconds in the 200 IM and 200 free relay. Zac Yeaton won the 500 freestyle and the team of Matt Elder, Vince Fontana, Sam Kirk and Ted Feller won the 400 free relay for the Golden Eagles. Adam Smith won the 200 freestyle and was on the second-place 200 free relay. Fontana also had a second in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
The girls team featured two double winners. Katie Frye and Jeri Harper led the Lady Eagles effort with two wins each. Katie won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and was a member of the second-place 200 free relay along with Zoe Yeaton, Angel Diehl and Harper. Jeri Harper won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and was part of the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay (Harper, Albright, Yeaton and Leah Cherry), both of which finished in second place. Zoe Yeaton was second in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly as well as the 200 free relay. Emily Albright bagged seconds in the 200 medley relay and the 50 freestyle.
