The Tyrone boys swim team raised their record to 5-1 on Wednesday night with a close 88.5-81.5 victory over Somerset in the Tyrone Area High School pool.
Eric Nulton and Evan Stover each won a pair of individual events to pace the Golden Eagles. Nulton won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Stover hit eh wall first in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. In addition both were members of the winning 200 medley relay to start the meet and the 200 free relay as well. Brian McManigal took the 100 backstroke and David Collins won the 100 breaststroke and both joined Stover and Nulton to win the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
The Tyrone girls fell to Somerset Lady Eagles 101.5-68.5 to fall to 2-5 on the season.
Jeri Harper won the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Katie Frye joined Harper as double winners in the individual events with victories in both the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. Zoe Yeaton won the 100 butterfly and the three joined Leah Cherry for a first place finish in the 200 medley relay. Angel Diehl was involved in three second place finishes-the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and joined Yeaton Harper and Frye in a second place finish for the 200 free relay.
The swim teams are off for a full week before traveling to Marion Center on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
