Tyrone’s Junior High Boys Basketball team made the long journey to Milroy on Tuesday to face Indian Valley’s Junior High team. The Little Eagles came away with a hard-fought 31-29 win.
The Baby Eagles fell behind early, but rallied in the second quarter to go into the lockerroom at the half with a 13-10 lead. But Indian Valley stormed back in the third quarter to take a 21-17 advantage going into the fourth. Tyrone then turned up the heat on defense, and took a 27-23 lead with 1:08 remaining.
Indian Valley had a chance to tie the game with 8.7 seconds remaining, but Adam Shaffer ripped the ball away from an Indian Valley player to seal the win.
Adam Shaffer led Tyrone in scoring with 11 points. Adam Corle chipped in with eight, and Josh Clark tossed in six.
Tyrone, now 13-4, plays host to Penns Valley Friday at the TAHS gym. The eighthth grade game starts at 3:15, with the nineth grade game to follow.
