The Tyrone YMCA will be sending 12 swimmers to the Pennsylvania District meet this weekend at Clarion University. Swimmers can swim a maximum of two individual events and one relay at Districts. However, to be eligible to compete in the District Meet, swimmers must achieve stringent qualifying times during the regular season. The top nine swimmers from each event will then advance to the State Championships to be held next weekend at Penn State University. 9 and 10 Girls:
Maria Thompson – 50 freestyle and 50 back; Mackenzie Weyandt 100 individual medley & 50 butterfly
11 & 12 Girls:
Salena Bradigan – 50 butterfly & 100 freestyle; Katherine Kananen – 50 breaststroke
11 & 12 Boys
Christian Peoples – 200 individual medley & 50 backstroke
13 & 14 Girls
Bethany Seidel – 200 freestyle & 200 individual medley; Megan Wilkinson – 100 backstroke & 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay team of Kelly Pearson, Valerie Turnbaugh, Seidel and Wilkinson.
15 – 18 Girls
Michala Seidel – 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley
15 – 18 Boys
Eric Nulton – 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly; Adam Smearman – 200 individuall medley and 100 butterfly.
