The Tyrone Area High School Majorettes and Colorguard are hosting the 21st annual TIA Percussion, majorette and Colorguard competition this afternoon at 1 p.m.
There are 39 units that are registered to compete.
The show starts with the percussion ensembles.
The schools who are competing are Central Mountain, Windber, Westmont-Hilltop, Glendale, Altoona, Keith, Bellwood-Antis, Huntingdon, Forest Hills, Connemaugh Valley, Williamsport and the Tyrone junior high Majorettes.
The Tyrone senior high majorettes and colorguard will be pesenting exhibitions.
The percussion and majorette awards will take place at 4:15 p.m.
For an added enjoyment, four Tyrone majorettes will be featured throughout the afternoon. They include Cori Oswalt, Lyndsay Johnson, Lea Morrissey and Nicole Cartwright.
The guest feature twirler for the show is nine-year-old Linsey Watters, the daughter of Melissa and Darren Watters. Melissa is a former Tyrone majorette and one of the Jr. High majorette instructors.
Linsey has been twirling for four years and a student of Debbie Bernhant and Carol Riley of Carol’s School of Baton in Altoona.
Several other exhibitions will include the Bald Eagle Area High School majorettes and the Bellefonte Area Alumni majorettes.
Closing out the show once again will be the Tyrone Alumni Majorette squad.
The colorguard awards will be presented at 8 p.m.
