The public is invited to attend a free “Medication Management Day, sponsored by Altoona Hospital PriorityCare Program and Blair Senior Services, Inc.’s PrimeTime Health on Wednesday, February 26.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and continues to 1 p.m. in the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing Auditorium.
A pharmacist from Kopp Drug will be available to check your medications. To participate, please place all medications you use into a brown paper bag. This includes all prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and vitamin/herbal supplements and medications. Bring this bag with you. Medication checkups are by appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling PriortyCare Coordinator Dana Shade at 949-3123 or 1-800-634-8238.
Nurses from The Home Nursing Agency will also be on hand to offer tips on how to organize your medication and its usage. Free compliance aids and organizational tips will be available.
Blair Senior Services Inc.’s APPRISE Program representatives will provide information on Prescription Assistance Programs and will offer ways that may help you to lower your prescription costs. Find out if you qualify for one of the many programs available that can assist with prescription costs.
All services are free, including the many giveaways that will be available just for attending.
“Medication Management Day” will include a “Lunch and Learn” program. A free lunch will be served at 11 a.m.
From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dr. Jill Breton, Altoona Hospital Clinical Pharmacist, will present a program entitled, “Managing Your Medication.” Dr. Breton will discuss medication interactions, ways to be a smart consumer, and the importance of following schedules and directions. She will offer tips for communicating with your pharmacist and answer your questions.
