Firearms Act/Drug Law violations
5/28 – State police and Altoona City police executed a search warrant at Jalon Jacob Lane’s, Altoona apartment in search of illicitly possessed firearms. They found four handguns, two having obliterated serial numbers, one having a partially obliterated serial number, and one having been previously stolen from within Altoona. Police also found 46 packets of suspected heroin, a small amount of marijuana, and a prohibited offensive weapon of brass knuckles. It was discovered that the 21-year-old Lane was a fugitive from New Jersey. District Justice Todd F. Kelly arraigned Lane on numerous firearms and drug-related charges, ordering him jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Firearms Act violation
5/29 – State police obtained and executed a search warrant at Jason Stefan Paul’s Altoona residence for illegally possessed firearms. Though the search failed to yield such firearms, several empty firearms boxes were discovered inside the residence and the serial numbers on some of those boxes can be traced back to “straw” purchases made at local gun shops. Also several photographs of individuals posing with and brandishing handguns were seized. The 26-year-old Paul was taken into custody without incident and has been lodged in the Blair County Prison in lieu of $30,000 straight cash bail. It was also learned through INS, that Paul is an illegal alien from Trinidad, and is in the country on an expired visa. An INS detainer has also been placed on Paul.
Drug possession
5/29 – Robert Robison, Jr. of Saint Marys was life flighted to the Altoona Trauma Center for injuries received in a vehicle accident. While at the trauma center, the suspect was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The investigation is pending.
DUI
5/30 – David Christopher Michelone, age 24, of Hollidaysburg, was stopped for summary traffic violations and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. After failing field sobriety tests, he was placed into custody and his subsequent blood tests revealed a blood alcohol count of .136 percent. Upon conviction, Michelone faces fines and/or imprisonment as well as loss of license.
DUI
5/31 – Randy Eamigh of Tyrone was stopped for driving erratically on SR 764 to SR I-99. Eamigh was arrested for DUI.
