The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have reorganized the Community Advisory Committee established during the Needs Analysis phase of the Northern Altoona Access Project.
The committee convened on Tuesday, June 17, in Altoona.
With input from CAC, PENNDOT will explore various alternatives to connect north Altoona with Interstate 99.
The CAC includes representatives from the Juniata area of Altoona, and Logan and Antis townships that include businesses, residents, community, local government and environmental interests.
The purpose of the CAC is to provide an additional method of communication between PENNDOT, FHWA and the community. It also allows the community an opportunity to provide input into the transportation development process and ensure the important needs and concerns of the community are considered in the development of alternatives. The committee will serve as an advisory group to the project team.
In addition to the Community Advisory Committee, other public involvement opportunities are available. The next public meeting is being planned for Summer 2003. For the most up-to-date project information, visit the project website at www.northernaltoona.com.
An Environmental Assessment of the Northern Altoona Access Project is currently being completed by L. Robert Kimball & Associates, Inc. for PENNDOT District 9 to evaluate alternatives to connect northern Altoona with Interstate 99.
