With the victory, the Kiwanis Team not only were crowned Area 4 VFW Champions, but also closed out their year with a 20-5 overall record and 12 consecutive victories. Head Coach, Mark Jackson had this to say about the season; “The boys worked very hard this year and really earned this Championship and I am very proud of them and their accomplishments.”
Jackson added, “In addition to the boy’s hard work and dedication, a big part of their success comes from the overall quality of the Tyrone VFW Baseball Program. Many thanks should go to Bob Clites, Charlie Kirkpatrick, Dave Brisbin, and a host of other volunteers who help make this program what it has become today. Over the past several years their have been a number of people who have joined forces with the fine men mentioned above to boost the support and quality of the program we now have in Tyrone. Over the past two years, we have had an area-wide fall baseball program that has included a number of professional instructors and even professional ball players.”
“I would also like to thank all of the parents along with my assistant coaches in Scott Rawson and Eric Dasher for their unending support of this team and Tyrone VFW Baseball”, Jackson concluded.
A number of players from both Tyrone teams have been selected for All-stars and will start regional playoffs next week.
