It’s that time of year to bundle up the family and travel to the main streets of Tyrone to enjoy the fifth annual Yuletyme Santa Parade scheduled for Thursday.
The tree lighting will begin at the Tyrone Post Office at 6:15 p.m. with WTRN live broadcasting on the steps, and the parade will follow at 6:30 p.m., sponsored by the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce.
The parade line-up will be led by the Tyrone Police Department and Tyrone Fire Police. The Tyrone Area High School Band will follow while playing holiday music, and Mayor Pat Stoner will be escorted in a Nelson’s vehicle.
The Tyrone Area YMCA gymnastics team will follow by riding in a truck, and there will also be a Tyrone High School FFA float. Tina’s Twirlers will follow while marching to music, and there will be a Class of 1966 float. The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will be accompanied by animals, and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company will have vehicles in the parade.
Pam’s Chargers will be marching to music while the Curve baseball mascots, Steamer and Diesel Dog, will make appearances. AMED will have an ambulance in the line-up, and the Bible Baptist Church will have singers on a float. Girl Scout Troop 1212 will be accompanied by Rachael Meek, and the Jaffa Shrine Provost Guard Unit will make an appearance. The Saint Matthew’s Knights of Columbus will have a float in the parade with music.
The Tyrone Area Salvation Army will have the rolling kettles once again, and individuals are encouraged to donate for the holiday season. Remember also to bring canned goods to the Christmas parade because TACO, along with the Tyrone Area Salvation Army, will be collecting for those in need in Tyrone.
The Christian Mission Alliance Church will have a float with music, and the Dover Millionaires, Inc. will make an appearance with three buses and a trailer. The Service Unit 20 Girl Scouts will be marching as well as the Star-Lite Twirlers will be marching with music.
Vehicles will be entered into the parade from Neptune Fire Company, and Cub Scout Pack 300, along with Mark Raffetto, will enter a float with music. The Tyrone Armory will participate in the parade, and DelGrosso’s Amusement Park will have a float with music.
The Bald Eagle Fire Company will enter vehicles, and the Tyrone Area Key Club will enter a float accompanied with music. The Froggy mascot will make an appearance, and the American Red Cross will enter three emergency response vehicles. The Pavlic Family fire truck will also be entered into the parade.
The Tyrone Area Middle School band will follow while playing holiday music. Junior Varsity and Varsity Tyrone High School cheerleaders will be riding as elves with Santa Claus and horses.
Santa Claus will end the parade on Dave and Linda Hershey’s mounted perching horse sleigh.
The normal parade route will end at the Armory for a visit with Santa, hot chocolate provided by the Salvation Army and cookies from the Tyrone Women’s Club. Judging will be done and also announced at the Armory.
Individuals can still register a group or organization for the parade line-up. Therefore, the parade line-up is subject to change up until the day of the parade.
