William B. Harpster, 84, of 508 Park Ave., Tyrone died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1919 in Bellwood, a son of Walter and Elizabeth (Hillard) Harpster. On June 23, 1941 in Cumberland, Md. he married Florence M. Eckley. She died Oct. 12, 1997.
Surviving is a daughter, Shirley Jean Beckwith of Tyrone; two sons, William B. Jr. of Altoona; Edward E. Sr. of Bellwood; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family.
Mr. Harpster retired in 1981 from the Pennsylvania Railroad as an engineer and conductor following 45 years of service.
He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company of Tyrone and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
