Richard W. Shaw, Sr., 58 of Vail Back Road, RD 3 Box 103, Tyrone, PA died at 4:35 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2004 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 17, 1946 in Altoona, PA a son of Forrest H. and Gertrude Louise (Weitzel) Shaw.
He is survived by three children: Richard W. Shaw, Jr. and wife Tammy of Tipton, PA; Dawn Showalter and husband Todd of Water Street, PA and Miranda Shaw of RD 3 Tyrone.
Also, five grandchildren, his mother, Gertrude Shaw of Trout Run, PA and longtime companion, Jenny Poullos of RD 3, Tyrone.
Brothers and sisters are: Barbara and husband Frank Henry of Pennsylvania Furnace, PA; Beverly J. Riggleman and David Ewing of Tyrone; Bonnie and Rev. Timothy Gardner of Montoursville, PA; Beatrice and Harold Brown of Montoursville, PA; Robert J. and Susan Shaw of Warriors Mark; Alvin D. and Susie J. Shaw of Cogan Station, PA and Walter Michael Shaw of Trout Run, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died February 11, 2004 and brothers, Forrest Ronald Shaw, William Larry Shaw and David Lynn Shaw.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
A member of the Hookies Fire Co., the Tyrone Sportsmen’s Assn., and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a Woodsman and was employed by R & S Construction of Williamsport, PA.
Funeral services and flag presentation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Timothy Gardner officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, RD Port Matilda, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday evening 7-9 and one hour before the service on Thursday.
