Republican candidate for the Ninth Congressional District Michael DelGrosso reached a milestone yesterday morning when he knocked on the door of 82-year-old Dorothy Cressler in Shippensburg.
“One year ago, I told the people of the Ninth Congressional District two things,” said DelGrosso. “I said I wanted to meet as many of them as humanly possible and I said I was willing to work very hard to do it. I stand here today to tell you I have looked into the eyes of the people of the Ninth District and promised them I will be a Congressman they can be proud of.”
DelGrosso promised Cressler never to lose touch with the people who matter the most.
“I have always been troubled that most incumbents seek re-election from a distance,” said DelGrosso. “There is only one way to properly represent the people. If elected officials aren’t talking one-on-one with the people they represent, they should be replaced.
“I am asking the voters of the Ninth Congressional District to replace Bill Shuster and regain faith and trust in their Congressman.”
Cressler told DelGrosso she is a life-long Republican and she congratulated him on the perseverance shown in his door-to-door campaign. She said his experience will help in dealing with issues like the economy and healthcare.
Back in June 2003, DelGrosso pledged he would knock on 10,000 doors of Republican residents in a 15-county area within the district. Over that period of time, DelGrosso said he has traveled more than 20,000 miles by car, and hundreds more by foot.
Voters throughout the Ninth Congressional District will have an opportunity to speak live with Michael DelGrosso tonight on the Pennsylvania Cable Television Network. DelGrosso will appear on PCN from 7-8 p.m. The program is part of the Network’s election coverage that will be broadcast on more than 150 cable systems across Pennsylvania.
“After knocking on my 10,000th door on Wednesday, I am thrilled to be able to speak directly with any voters I might have missed over the past year of door-to-door,” commented DelGrosso. “This is a fantastic opportunity being made available to the voters of Pennsylvania by PCN.”
PCN is a nonprofit, noncommercial news organization funded by Pennsylvania cable television companies that voluntarily carry the network on their channel lineup. Viewers should check their local channel lineup for specific information. The call-in phone number will be broadcast during the program. More information can be found at www.pcntv.com.
