The Tyrone track contingent put an exclamation point on the 2004 season by sweeping visiting Mount Union. The boys blew by the Trojans 118-32, while the girls notched their first win in convincing fashion, 97-45.
While working with minimal numbers, nearly all of the Lady Eagles (1-8) pulled “double duty” eight of them had multiple wins!
“Our girls have worked hard all year and really deserved this win.” said a happy coach Tony Yaniello.
Emily Lloyd captured four events (long jump, triple jump, 100 HH, and 300 IM) to help lead the way. Four other Eaglettes accounted in three wins apiece Emily Ingle won the 400, 800, and ran on the winning 1600 relay. Erin Langenbacher won the 1600 and 3200 races and was a part of the 3200 relay. Marissa Hoover dominated the javelin and was a part of both the 400 and 1600 relay wins. Freshman Amber Davis was on all three winning relays to round out the list of triple winners. Samantha Friday (100 and 200), Emily McKenna (400 and 3200 relays), and Adeena Harbst (3200 and 400 relays) were double winners. While Ashley Turnbaugh won the discus and Paige Black ran on the winning 1600 relay team for the girls.
In the boys meet, the Golden Eagles (7-2) held a commanding 60 to 3 edge in field events, and four different Eagles had multiple victories to lead Tyrone\’s boys to wins in 16 of the 18 events. Tommy Crowl, who is in a close battle with B-A standout Dan Houser for the conference point title, continued his assault on conference competition by winning four events (100, 400, long jump, and 3200 relay). Justin Wilson owned both hurdle races and won the high jump for three wins. Trey Brockett recorded a personal best of 41 feet in winning the triple jump and also was in on the 400 relay win, and Aaron Houck won the 1600 and 3200 races to complete the boys list of multiple winners. Tyrone got single victories from Billy Dean (200), Evan Stover (pole vault), Adam Shaffer (javelin), Ron Miller (Shot put), Terry Tate (discus), the 400 relay team of Guy Reitz, Leonard Wilson, David Miller, and Brockett, and the 3200 relay team of Nathan Barber, Christopher Bradigan, Robert Gherrity, and Crowl.
