Hollidaysburg State Police
Police have released more details regarding a tractor trailer fire which closed a portion of Interstate 99 in Logan Township, early Tuesday morning.
The truck operated by 51-year-old Frederick Kilbride of Michigan was traveling south on I-99 when the brakes on the truck apparently overheated and caused the truck to catch on fire.
Another truck driver who was following Kilbride’s truck, contacted him via CB radio and told him that his truck was on fire. Kilbride then pulled his vehicle onto the west berm of the road near mile post number 36 near the Pinecroft exit.
Kilbride exited the vehicle and then attempted to put out the fire, he was unable to do so and fire responders from Pinecroft and Lakemont were called to the scene to extinguish it.
Kildbride was not injured during the incident which occurred about 5 a.m., Tuesday. A portion of I-99 was closed southbound near the Pinecroft exit for about three-and-a half hours. Police said one lane reopened around 8:30 a.m. Eventually, both lanes south bound were open to traffic.
State police were also assisted on the scene by AMED Ambulance and the Pinecroft and Blair County Fire Police.

Last month, a Tyrone man was found passed out in his vehicle at the Sheetz parking lot in Antis Township.
The discovery at about 8:40 p.m., May 18 led to the arrest of 32-year-old George Calvin Black on DUI charges. Police said Black failed several sobriety tests and he was placed into custody.
Upon conviction, he faces fines and/or imprisonment as well as a loss of license.
