An Altoona couple was involved in an accident in the overnight hours on Monday in Warriors Mark Township which led to a woman being hospitalized and her husband arrested for reckless endangerment.
According to Huntingdon-based state police, 29-year-old Kristin Hoover was operating a car on State Route 550 in Warriors Mark Township around 3:15 a.m. on Monday. The crash happened when her husband, 37-year-old James Hoover allegedly pulled the emergency brake on the vehicle which caused it to spin out of control and strike several trees.
His wife was taken to Tyrone Hospital for treatment of a head injury. Police report while at the hospital, blood was drawn from the woman and results showed she was over the legal blood-alcohol content limit.
An additional report from the police indicated the couple was involved in a verbal dispute at the time Mr. Hoover allegedly pulled the emergency brake which led to the accident.
Afterwards, the couple was observed arguing outside the vehicle, at which point, the man fled the scene.
Charges are expected to filed against Mr. Hoover at District Justice Daniel Davis’ office. The reports did not specify any charges against Mrs. Hoover regarding the DUI aspect of the crash.
