Today’s practice was long and hot, but we stuck through it. It was the first practice we didn’t have three-a-days. We did really well together. The leaders stepped up and showed the younger guys their roles and made all the younger guys get through their responsibilities. Tomorrow we will watch films of the first scrimmage.
We looked good in the scrimmage. Our line just dominated, pushed people around, like we were big bullies. Our second and third strings need to step it up more. We pretty much know who the starters will be, but we need younger kids to step up and help in the rotation. It felt good to hit somebody other than a teammate, to get some fresh meat out there and level some people.
After not having very many seniors last year, this year, we have at least two senior leaders at each position area-line, d-backs, receivers, running backs, almost every position is filled with leaders.
It is easier for me, as a wide receiver this year to know definitely who the starting quarterback is going to be. It’s good to know that I can warm up with Leonard (Wilson), practice routes with him, get your timing down.
The buddy system is good. My buddy is Jordan Good. I’ve gotten to know a lot about him.
We haven’t beaten Bellwood at home since 1998. Sept. 3 is coming fast, it keeps coming closer and closer. This year we are in the same division in the new league, it will good to get one-up on them in the division, soon.
Editors note: There are still Tyrone season football tickets remaining which may be purchased at Bresslers Food Mart & Sports, 1611, W. 15th Street.
