This year’s annual Tyrone Area Community Day, scheduled to be held Friday, August 3 at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, is gearing up to be the biggest and best yet.
The day will be filled with fun activities for Tyrone area residents, and all Tyrone area youth are invited to ride and slide for free! This includes all pre-school, elementary, junior and senior high school youth (through 2007 graduation) in the Tyrone area.
Committee members are in the final preparation stages to make this year’s event more successful than ever.
Now is the chance to purchase tickets for the chicken barbecue, which will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The meal includes: 1/2 fresh barbecued chicken, potato salad, baked beans, relish tray, roll and butter, Pepsi or coffee and dessert for $6.95.
Tickets are available for purchase at The Daily Herald, Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce, WTRN Radio Station and Joshua House. The last day for chicken barbecue ticket purchase is July 30, so make sure to get your tickets today.
Other events to be held throughout the day include a Tyrone Talent Search and a mini-golf tournament, to name a few. Also, there will be free waterworks, rapids and rides for all Tyrone area youth.
Another part of the day that is sure to be a success is the Tyrone Community Raffle, which will be held at the conclusion of the Tyrone Talent Search. This raffle is everyone’s chance to win art produced by Tyrone’s own talented artists.
If any local artist would like to have a Hometown Raffle item submitted and displayed, register at The Daily Herald during regular business hours. The office is located at 1067 Pennsylvania Avenue. Items are due to the Herald before July 27.
