John M. Andrews, 95, of Tyrone, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was born October 18, 1909, in Julian, a son of James C. and Elva (Mease) Andrews. On July 27, 1931, in Cumberland, Maryland, he married Gladys Young. She died July 7, 1985.
Surviving are five songs, John Mark and wife Betty of Tipton, James Ronald and wife Charlotte of Bellefonte, Roy K. and wife Elizabeth of Bellefonte, George B. and wife Deborah of Chicago, Illinois, Brett A. and wife Christine of Harrisburg, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a sister, Ann Miller of Philipsburg, a nephew, Nelson Flack and a niece, Bonita Brown. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Maher, two sisters and two brothers, and a daughter-in-law, Kaye.
Mr. Andrews retired on disability in 1969 from Bayer Brothers, Tyrone, as a delivery driver following 30 years service.
He was a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church, AARP and was the last surviving charter member of the Port Matilda Fire Company.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Home Nursing Agency, 201 Chestnut Street, Altoona, PA, 16601.
