Margaret Elizabeth Henry Giffin, 94, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was formerly of Alexandria and Huntingdon.
She was born November 21, 1909 in Altoona, the daughter of Lee and Josephine (Hummel) Porte.
Her first union was to Albert Henry who preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Chester Giffin who also preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Jane Henry Gill of Baltimore, Maryland and Katherine Henry Speck of Huntingdon, Pa.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance Henry Keinzie, a brother, Clarence Porte and two sisters, Mary Porte Olds and B. Jane Porte White.
Mrs. Giffin had been employed as a clerk for a number of stores in the Tyrone area.
She was a member of the Twelfth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where she had been a member of the Women’s Missionary Society for over fifty years., taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was also an active volunteer at the Standing Stone Senior Citizens Center.
She had been a long time resident of Tyrone and moved to Alexandria in the late 1970s. Later, she lived at DeForrest Apartments in Huntingdon until moving to Epworth Manor.
Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2004 and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service on Monday at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne L. Richards and Chaplain Joan Smith officiating. Interment will be at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon.
