This year’s Christmas parade is sure to be memorable as the event will be used to kick off Tyrone’s Victorian Christmas Celebration.
The parade is scheduled for Thursday at 6:15 p.m., and the lineup has been announced. It will be the regular parade route.
Also, the community tree lighting ceremony will take place just before the parade begins at 6 p.m., in front of the post office.
Since there is still time for organizations to sign up for the parade, the lineup is subject to change.
The lineup is as follows: Tyrone Police Department, Tyrone Fire Police, Mayor Pat Stoner/Nelson Brothers Chrysler, Kelly Wike/State Farm Insurance Float, Star-Lite Twirlers, Central PA Humane Society, Christian Mission Alliance Church Float, TACO Float collecting canned foods, Hookies Fire Company and the American Red Cross.
Also, Tyrone YMCA Gymnastics Team, Warriors Mark Fire Company, Dream Twirlers, Altoona Curve Steamer, St. Matthew’s /Knights of Columbus Float, TAHS Cheerleaders Float and walkers, DelGrosso’s Amusement Park Float, Debra Snyder Reindeer Seraphim, Pam’s Chargers School of Baton, Girl Scout Troop No. 1221, Neptune Fire Company, Amed Ambulance and Girl Scout Troops No. 1201/1217/Ladies American Legion Auxiliary Float with walkers beside.
Also, Cougars Pee Wee Football Truck, Tyrone FFA Float, Horse and Rider, Bike and walkers, Bald Eagle Fire Company, Daisy Girl Scout Troop No. 1214, Jr. Girl Scout Troop No. 1220, Dover Millionaires three buses and trailer, Tipton Fire Company and Santa on Hershey’s Horse-drawn sleigh.
The events are sponsored by The Rotary Club of Tyrone and The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce.
Directly after the parade in the Armory, community members are encouraged to visit with Santa for hot chocolate provided and served by Joshua House, cookies provided by the Women’s Club of Tyrone, and the Rotary Club of Tyrone will announce the parade float winners.
The Victorian Christmas committee will have the Santa house, train display, decorated trees and much more for everyone’s enjoyment.
