The Tyrone boys swim team got back on the winning track on Wednesday at home against Marion Center. Following two straight losses, the Golden Eagles posted wins in nine of the 11 events to triumph 93-61.
The Nulton brothers combined for four wins in the individual events with senior Eric Nulton winning the 100 and 200 freestyle races and freshman Ethan Nulton taking the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, and Chris Bradigan added the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly to account six of the seven individual wins for the Eagles. Chris Closson won the 500 freestyle for Tyrone to round out the individual winners and the foursome of the Nulton brothers, Brian Pearson and Bradigan won both the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. Pearson took second place in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke and teammates Nick Diehl (200 IM), Matt Elder (100 butterfly), Zac Yeaton (100 freestyle) also claimed seconds, while sophomore Tyler Thompson was third in the 500 freestyle.
The Lady Eagles got double wins from both freshman Kelly Pearson and Zoe Yeaton, but fell by almost the identical score the Tyrone boys won by 93-63.
Pearson won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Yeaton won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke to lead the attack, but the Lady Stingers from Marion Center had too much depth for the depleted roster of the Tyrone girls.
Paige Black took seconds in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Leah Cherry was runnerup in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle, and Kassie Markel was second in the 100 breaststroke.
