Robert R. Gilpin, Jr., 63, of P.O. Box 185, Tipton, Pa. died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown, Pa.
He was born November 26, 1941 at Cumberland, Md. the son of the late Robert R. and Evelyn (Magruder) Gilpin, Sr.
He is survived by a daughter Christine E. Centeno of Tulare, Ca. and a son Robert Bryan Gilpin of Corcoran, Ca.; four grandchildren: Anthony DuBois, Aurora Centeno, Joshua Gilpin and Hunter Gilpin and a sister, Karen Gay Johnson and her husband Nevin of Newark, Del.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alan DuBois.
He was a member of the Tyrone First English Lutheran Church, a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1959 and attended the Altoona Campus of Penn State University. He was a former member of the Tyrone J.C.’s and was a volunteer at the James E. Van Zandt Veterans Hospital and the Altoona Hospital.
He had been employed at Gordon’s Jewelers, Gables Dept. Store, Westvaco Corp. and last as a security guard at the Tyrone Area High School.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Tyrone First English Lutheran Church with Rev. T. Talbot-Moses officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Cumberland, Md.
Friends will be received at the church one hour before the service Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be given to the First English Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 17 W. 13th St., Tyrone, Pa. 16686.
