The Central PA Wolves Ice Hockey team smashed Derry 12-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Center Ice Arena in Delmont.
The Wolves scored the first five goals to put the game on ice early and then peppered the Derry goal keeper for seven more scores to complete the rout.
Craig Thompson (Spring Cove) led the way for the Central PA squad, with four goals and five assists. Andy Shoop (Spring Cove) scored twice and added four assists. Josh Kennedy (Spring Cove) also pumped in two goals and had a pair of assists.
Issac Fink (Bald Eagle Area), Jonathan Bishop (Tyrone), Kyle Hopkins (State College) and Chris Carthew (Chestnut Ridge) each scored a single goal. Fink had three assists, and Hopkins, Bishop, Bryan Carthew (Chestnut Ridge) and Gage Dunkle (Spring Cove) each added one assist.
Thompson and Kennedy opened the scoring with first-period goals and then Thompson, Fink and Shoop added scores before Derry dented their half of the scoreboard.
The goal parade was on as Central PA scored 10 goals in the final two periods. The high-scoring Wolves have now pumped 19 goals into their opponents nets in the last two games.
Wolves goal keeper Fred Dorman (Bellwood-Antis) stopped 17 of 20 shots as Central PA extended their record to 3-1-2.
The Central PA Varsity Wolves next regular league games are today, Monday, December 13 at 8:40 p.m. vs. Hollidaysburg at Galactic Ice with the Wolves as the visitors and Thursday, December 23 at 6:50 p.m. vs. Bishop Guilfoyle at Galactic Ice with the Wolves designated as the home team.
