Last week, the DelGrosso’s Amusement Parks mascot, Buddy Bear, was in Tyrone for the Victorian Christmas Parade and an appearance at the Tyrone Social Center.
Also seen around town were flyers for the park’s 2005 season preview. A representative who accompanied the mascot said the park is ready for next summer.
Of course, that might be a surprise to some folks, with the first day of winter less than two weeks away and a chance of snow and colder temperatures moving into the area in the coming days.
Regardless, park officials confirmed the schedule is available at several locations and once again DelGrosso’s is making a season pass available for the 2005 season.
“We’re looking for great weather next season,” said park president Peter Gardella. “The season pass is a real value because it can be used seven days a week and we have a longer season next year.
“The schools are going to start a week later so it’s more value for our guests,” explained Gardella.
He said the park typically has the pass available by Black Friday, the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season. The pass is available for those who might want to purchase it as a Christmas gift.
It is available at one of several locations including Monika’s Cards and Gifts in Tyrone and at the park’s office on old Route 220 in Tipton. The pass can even be purchased by phone using a charge card, according to a park representative. Those interested in the season pass can contact the park for details on all the locations where it can be purchased. Mail orders are also accepted.
The park typically makes the season pass available for purchase around this time of year to give people the opportunity to purchase it for use as a gift.
Opening day for the park in 2005 is scheduled for May 1. Other highlights include a Moms Ride Free day on Mother’s Day, May 8. A free country concert is scheduled for June 5 on the weekend of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon.
The park’s regular hours begin on June 6. WALY-Palooza is scheduled for June 11 and Dads Ride Free day is Father’s Day, June 19. A free oldies concert will be held on June 26, and Summer Thunder 2005 is scheduled for July 4.
Other events on the schedule include the Native American Pow Wow on July 16 and 17. A GM car show and a free country concert is set for Aug. 7. The Youthfest featuring a free Christian concert is schedule for Sept. 4. Labor Day, Sept. 5 will feature $1.99 all day rides and water.
The season will wrap up with two traditional events; the DelGrosso Italian Festival on Sept. 18 and the two-day Harvestfest on Sept. 24 and 25.
