Rosters have been released for the 2005 Big John Riley Basketball Classic. The 22nd Annual Classic will be played Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the DeGol Arena on the campus of Saint Francis University. The girls will tipoff at 6:30 p.m., with the boys following at 8:30 p.m.
Coach Nick Lovrich of Bellwood-Antis, and coach Lee Stanek of Cambria Heights, will lead the Blair and Cambria County Girls All-Stars into the 2005 Big John Riley Basketball Classic. The coaching responsibilities for the boys contest will be led by coach Tom McConnell of Bishop Guilfoyle, and Lance McGough of Forest Hills. The head coaches will be assisted by their respective staffs.
All proceeds from the game will benefit the Big John Riley Memorial Scholarship at Saint Francis University. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
Coach Lovrich will have Lady Blue Devil Steph Hatch on the squad, along with Hilary McNelis from Tyrone, Lindsey Bush, Ashley Earnest and Kristie Little from Altoona, Andrea Cooper and Allison Smith from Hollidaysburg, Amber Severa and Morgan Tate from Williamsburg, Lindsey Sissler from District VI-AA champ Bishop Guilfoyle, Rebecca Brooks from Central and Sasha Hileman from Claysburg-Kimmel.
Cambria County will feature Alyse Semetosky and Leah Shrift from four-time District VI-A champ Bishop Carroll Dani McIntyre, Jessica Mock and Rachel Price from Bishop McCort, Kristen Maurer, Deanna Roberts and Kaitlin Urban from District VI-AA runnerup Westmont-Hilltop, as well as Danielle Baughman from Central Cambria, Kellie Skoner from Forest Hills, Lindsey McCombie from Northern Cambria and Rose Klinar from Richland.
The Blair County boys squad will feature Kevin Hershberger from Tyrone and Paul Greiner and Aaron Bell from Bellwood-Antis, along with Brian Forney and David Thompson from Altoona, Adam Bechtel from Central, Bruce Helsley from Claysburg-Kimmel, Tyson Maugle and Spencer Nicholson from Hollidaysburg, and Ben Landis from Williamsburg.
Cambria County will counter with Joel Takacs from Bishop Carroll, Ben Vescovi and Matt Mesaros from Central Cambria, Josh Varga and Shawn Lewis from Bishop McCort, Josh Lupek from Conemaugh Valley, Ronnie Klien and Jeff Rolla from Forest Hills, John Bonatesta from Northern Cambria, Eric Wingard from Richland and Joe Ozbold from Westmont-Hilltop.
