The Bellwood-Antis softball team made the long trek to Southern Huntingdon on Thursday afternoon to play the Lady Rockets.
Southern Huntingdon pretty much put an end to the game early sending 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first to score eight runs, on the way to a 15-0 shutout win over the Bellwood-Antis girls.
Southern (3-2), which picked up their third straight victory after two season-opening losses, received a three-run home run in that first inning from Emily Wible for the big blow. Wible had two hits and drove in five runs and Abby Woodward, Snyder and Welsh each had two hits. Woodward boomed a triple to get things started over again, following Wible’s dinger.
Erica Hockenberry limited the Lady Blue Devils to two singles, striking out for and not walking a batter.
The only hits for Bellwood-Antis were singles by Kerstin Myers with one out in the second inning and by pitcher Kala Reider to lead off the fourth inning.
The Lady Blue Devils are back in action at home today hosting Altoona, with the first pitch set for 4:30 p.m. at the George Martin Field.
