A generous scoop of ice cream in a tall glass of cold root beer is a great summer thirst quencher and a terrific way to show your support for Blair Senior Services\’ volunteer programs!
Blair Senior Services\’ fourteenth annual “Old-Fashioned Root Beer Floats for $1” fund-raiser is scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 27, 28, and 29 at Sam\’s Club, Plank Road Commons, Altoona.
Volunteers make a real difference in the community. Blair Senior Services supports over 1,300 volunteers who work with 62 nonprofit organizations and agencies to help make the county a great place in which to live. With their help, meals nourish 715 homebound older adults, encouragement and wisdom guide hundreds of local school children, kindness and vitality welcome guests into Senior Community Centers, care and companionship sustain frailer older adults, and vigilance makes our neighborhoods safer. And, these are only a few of the ways volunteers impact everyone’s lives!
Sam’s Club joins Blair Senior Services to raise funds to support the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Companion, Foster Grandparent, Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Center volunteers. The root beer float sale will be held outside the exit doors of Sam\’s Club. Memberships at Sam\’s Club is not required. Floats will be available for a $1 donation from 10 a.m. until dusk.
