At the Annual Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner held last Thursday at the Tyrone Elks, executive director of the Chamber, Rose Black, was honored for her contributions to the community over the last several years.
President of the Chamber, Francis Brunhuber, presented Black with the award which was commissioned from the Senate of Pennsylvania.
The award reads, “Whereas, the Senate of Pennsylvania takes great pleasure in recognizing those citizens who, through dedication and excellence, contribute in a meaningful way to the well-being of their communities and ultimately to all the people of this great Commonwealth; and
“Whereas, Rose Black is being honored by the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce for her years of outstanding community service; and
“Whereas, Executive Director of the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Black has also made significant contributions to the Tyrone community through her membership in the Tyrone Women’s Club, on the board of Directors of the Tyrone Hospital and as Treasurer of the Tyrone Rotary Club. An active participant in many other beneficial organizations, Ms. Black is also well-known for her many laudable efforts toward the annual Tyrone Christmas Parade and the Tyrone Community Picnic. Any definition of a full and productive life must include service to others. Through her many initiatives to benefit her community and by her personal example, Ms. Black clearly reflects the true spirit and mission of this Commonwealth.
“Now therefore, the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania congratulates Rose Black upon her richly deserved recognition; affirmatively states that she is a shining example of community spirit whose many contributions are worthy of deep gratitude and respect;
“And directs that a copy of this document, sponsored by Senator Robert C. Jubelirer, be transmitted to Rose Black.”
Secretary Mark R. Corrigan signed the special recognition award next to the official seal of the Senate of Pennsylvania.
After receiving the award, Black thanked everyone in attendance at the Chamber dinner.
She said of her service to the community, “I do this from the bottom of my heart.”
