Samuel DeDois, 88, formerly of 523 W. 16th Street, and the Colonial Courtyard, Tyrone, died at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Moran’s Home, Bellwood.
He was born March 9, 1917 at Clarksburg, WV, a son of Secundino and Natividad (Menendez) DeDois.
He was married on Oct. 12, 1948 at Winchester, VA to Enid LaRue Shuey, who died Sept. 19, 1982.
He is survived by brothers-in-law Eugene A. Shuey and David M. Christine of Tyrone and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jesse.
Mr. DeDois was of Presbyterian faith, a member of the Tyrone Moose Lodge No. 25, Hookies Fire Co., V.F.W. No. 4559, Tyrone Sportsmens Assn., Bald Eagle Fire Company, United Paperworkers International Union, Local 1388, and the Blair County Motor Club.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II serving as a S/Sgt. in Battery C., 380th Field Art., 102nd Div. in the Central European Theatre.
He was a manager-meatcutter for Shaffer Grocery Stores for 25 years and retired from Westvaco Corp., May 1, 1979 after 20 years service.
Funeral service and flag presentation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone with the Rev. Michael L. Christine officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home, one hour before the service on Thursday.
Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Snyder Township.
