Crime Solvers of Blair County is listing an April 25 rape of a 21-year-old woman in Antis Township as its latest “Crime of the Week.”
The incident happened between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m., after the woman’s vehicle became disabled.
In a release issued shortly after the incident, Hollidaysburg-based State police said the woman started walking along State Route 865 after the vehicle’s breakdown.
A press release from Crime Solvers of Blair County said the woman was walking on the road somewhere between Blandburg and Bellwood when she was offered assistance by a man driving a black Dodge Ram extended cab pickup. The woman accepted the ride.
State police reported the man offered to drive the woman to Bellwood. Instead, he turned off of State Route 865 onto a side road. Crime Solvers said the side road was on state game lands. The suspect then proceeded to sexually assault the victim.
Crime Solvers said the woman was then forced to leave the truck and the suspect drove back toward State Route 865, leaving the woman in the wooded area. Authorities said she was able to walk to the main road and got a ride back to her vehicle. The female driver who assisted the victim helped her to get her car started again. The woman was treated at Altoona Hospital.
The Crime Solvers report described the suspect as a white man in his 30s, 5-feet 10 and weighing 175 pounds. He was said to have dyed blond hair in a spike style and was wearing a small goatee.

State police are also making a photo/composite of the suspect available. Those wanting to see or obtain the photo should contact the Hollidaysburg-based state police at 696-6100.
