The Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary invites the public to join them in supporting Tyrone Hospital through membership in the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary is currently conducting its annual membership drive and is seeking both active and supporting members.
Membership fees as well as dollars generated through a variety of fund raisers held each year are used to purchase hospital equipment and fund special activities.
Each year the auxiliary provides gifts for the hospital’s New Year\’s baby, provides a party for patients and hospital staff on both Halloween and Easter and conducts a holiday tea and craft fair each December.
Thousands of dollars are also donated annually to support the operation of the hospital’s Care Car, a service the Auxiliary created more than 15 years ago to benefit members of the community. The Care Car provides complimentary transportation to Tyrone Hospital, local physician\’s offices and local pharmacies.
The service is available to those residing in the Tyrone Area School District. In 2004 alone, more than 2,200 individuals utilized the Care Car for transportation to healthcare appointments, many of them elderly residents with no other means of transportation.
Cindy McLarren, newly elected President of the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary said there are many ways community members can support the Auxiliary.
\”Some individuals pay dues as supporting members. Others join as active members. Active members become more involved, they may donate items for bake sales and craft sales, donate time to serve holiday refreshments to hospital patients, or assist with special events. We ask people to let us know the different ways they are interested in helping when they submit their membership dues.\”

All members of the Auxiliary are welcome to attend the organization’s monthly meetings held in the classroom at Tyrone Hospital on the second Tuesday of each month.
