A topsy-turvy week saw Elks pull out their first win, while the two front runners split a pair of games to remain deadlocked at the top. On Saturday, Gardner’s Candies topped Rick Day Construction 6-2, and Elks moved into the victory column with a solid 11-4 triumph over Ferguson Pest Control. Then on Tuesday, the same teams squared off again, with Rick Day bouncing Gardner’s 8-0 and Ferguson’s coming back to down Elks 10-0.

Elks overcame a 3-2 Ferguson’s Pest Control lead after an inning to post eight scores in the third on the way to their first win of the campaign, 11-4. Kaleb Chronister, Justin Miller and Derek Dasher each banged two hits for Elks and Chronister scored three times and Derrick Emigh and Josh Loose scored twice each. Korry Cowher led Ferguson’s with three hits, including a double and Jesse Shaffer had two hits.
Shaffer struckout eight and walked seven to pick up the loss, while Justin Miller picked up the win, fanning five and walking one.

Gardner’s Candies 6 Rick Day Construction 2
Gardner’s Candies scored twice in the second, third and fourth innings to post a 6-2 win over Rick Day Construction in the late game on Saturday.
Gardner’s took advantage of a couple Rick Day errors, 11 bases on balls, and hits by Justin Spanik, John Kimberling and Corbin Nevling-Ray and the Candy pitchers limited their opponent’s to no runs over the first five innings.
Jordan Faretta struck out 12 and walked five to pick up the victory for Gardner’s, while Jeremy Miller took the loss fanning five, but walking nine.

This time when these two foes got together, it was Rick Day (5-2) all the way, scoring four times in the second and four more in the fourth, with Jeremy Miller going the distance is tossing a four-hit shutout with seven Ks and four walks. Tyler Friday doubled and knocked in a pair of runs to lead the winners, while Miller scattered the hits one each among Justin Spanik, Tyler Osterhout, Corbin Nevling-Ray and Jacob Belinda for Gardner’s (5-2).

Ferguson’s Pest Control 10 Elks 0
In the second shutout victory of the evening, Ferguson’s Pest Control (3-4) pounced on Elks (1-6) for a pair of runs in the top of the first before Elks had a chance to hit. Although Ferguson’s added eight more runs, with Jimmy Ferguson and Korry Cowher on the mound for FPC, that would be more runs than they would need.
Jesse Shaffer had three hits, including a double and two RBI and Seth Barrett and Cowher each banged two hits to lead the winners.
Derrick Emigh and Josh Loose had the only hits for Elks.
