There are a lot of exciting things happening at Emmanuel Baptist Church this week as members host both Mission Week and Kids’ Club. The church is located on 10th Street in Tyrone.
Currently, mission groups from West Virginia and Florida are staying in the area to help with this week’s activities.
Tomorrow, a food drive is planned.
Kid’s camp is being held each evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Park Avenue playground.
The focus of the camp is safety and each night volunteers focus on teaching a specific safety program.
Yesterday participants learned about fire safety and tonight kids will learn about bike safety. Wednesday’s lesson focuses on stranger safety and Thursday’s lesson on firearm safety.
The safety programs run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Following the safety instruction, at 6:30 p.m., the kids will enjoy exciting lessons, crafts, games and a snack.
Parents are encouraged to attend the safety programs with their children.
Also, each evening a light supper will be served for all participating.
To conclude the mission week on Friday, July 27 the kids will be having a craft show at 7 p.m. Also a kids’ concert at 8 p.m., Contemporary Christian rock concerts at 8:30 p.m. and a movie about a race car that gets lost at 9:20 p.m.
The movie will be shown at the M & T parking lot across from Gardner’s Candies in downtown Tyrone. There will be prizes, popcorn and drinks. Bring a lawn chair and join the fun.
