The Tyrone Area Youth Baseball Association (TYBA) players will be busy for the rest of the summer going to and sponsoring various age group tournaments.
On the local scene, the TYBA will hold an eight-team tournament for eight years of age and under players from July 21-24, 2005. From July 21-24, there will be a 12-team tournament at the Tyrone Area Youth Baseball field for 9-10 year olds. Finally, on July 31-August 10, the TYBA will host a mega 16-team tournament for 11 and 12 year olds.
The different age groups from the TYBA also will do a bit of traveling to area tournaments as well.
Beginning today, the 9 and 10 year old All-Stars will play in a tournament in Williamsburg, with their first game at 2 p.m., and the 11 and 12 year olds will begin a tournament in Martinsburg at 12 Noon.
During the week of July 9, the 9 and 10 year olds will play in a tournament at Martinsburg and the 11 and 12 year old All-Stars will send two teams to three tournaments in Williamsburg, Everett and Mount Union, depending on when the various tournaments schedule their games.
During the week ending July 16, the 8 and Under All-Stars will play in a tournament in Martinsburg and the week following will be involved in a tournament in Mount Union.
The 9 and 10 year old All-stars will journey to Everett for a tournament during the week of July 15.
During the week of July 14-18, Bellwood will be the destination for a tournament for the 11 and 12 year olds, who will then switch to the other side of the county for a July 18-24 tournament held in Claysburg.
Finally, from July 19-24, the 9 and 10 year olds will be in a tournament in Claysburg and from July 29-August 4, the 9 and 10 year olds will be in a tournament at Bellwood.
More information will be coming as the tournament times get nearer.
The TYBA All-Stars are already on the move, all three teams playing in the Juniata Valley Tournament, which ended on Sunday, June 26. The 8 and Under team was one of three teams in their bracket, but didn’t make the championship playoffs, while both the 9 and 10 All-Stars and the 11 and 12 year olds earned berths in the finals, but finished second.
