A vehicle driven by 52-year-old Harvey J. Maines was traveling south at the same time a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Andrew Steele was northbound on 453.
Upon approaching an intersection, Maines failed to see Steele’s car approaching from the other direction. Maines began to make a left turn onto State Route 1015. While he was turning, his truck traveled into the path of Steele’s car.
Steele recognized Maines’ truck was turning in front of him and he applied his brakes, leaving approximately 78 feet of skid marks. However, he was unable to stop his vehicle without hitting the truck. Steele’s car hit the right-front side with its front end.
Upon impact, Steele’s vehicle rolled onto its roof and came to rest on the east side of Route 453.
Steele suffered minor injuries and was taken to Altoona Hospital by Bellwood Ambulance.
State police said they were assisted at the scene by firefighters from Tyrone and the Tyrone Fire Police.

A 25-year-old Warriors Mark man was involved in a DUI-related accident on June 23 between 1:15 a.m. and 4 p.m.
James Updike was allegedly driving on State Route 350 on a four-wheeler when he wrecked into a guide rail. Updike was arrested at his residence in Warriors Mark.
After being taken into custody, he tried to run while in handcuffs. He was eventually booked before a magisterial district judge and placed in jail in lieu of $5,000 straight bail.

State police investigated a case of agricultural vandalism that happened in Tyrone Township sometime between 11 p.m. on June 24 and 1 a.m. on June 25.
Authorities said the incidents happened on Black’s Farm when two vehicles drove through several crop fields along Kettle Road between Fort Roberdeau Road and Golf Course Road.
Earlier last week, Hollidaysburg-based state police said the incident was “pending further investigation based on witness descriptions of the suspect vehicles.”

An American flag was stolen from a residence along North 2nd Street in Antis Township some time shortly after midnight and 9 a.m. on June 25.
State police said the flag was taken from a holder on the porch of the residence of Wesley T. Weaver. The top of the staff had a white metal eagle. Anyone with information is being asked to call state police.

Two Antis Township residents were cited for harassment stemming from actions in a domestic incident that happened on June 25.
Kimberly Joy Umbower, 36, and John Dayne Umbower, 38, both of Cedar Lane, were charged.

State police investigated a criminal mischief incident that happened in Antis Township, sometime between 6 p.m. on June 25 and 7 a.m. on June 27.
Authorities said unknown persons smashed a window out of a truck at the Frito Lay Warehouse.

An unidentified victim reported his vehicle was entered into while it was parked at a residence last month along State Route 4025 in Tipton in Antis Township.
The man reported $25 was taken from the middle console during the theft that happened sometime between June 27 and 28.
