The 11 & 12 year-old All-Stars from the Tyrone Area Youth Baseball Association played in a a pair of tournaments over last weekend at Everett and Mount Union. The Tyrone All-Stars dropped close decisions to the host Everett team 4-1, on Saturday, and Chestnut Ridge 9-7, on Sunday, at Everett, while the TYBA All-Stars topped Path Valley 12-5, on Monday, at Mount Union.
In the win on Monday at Mount Union, Tyrone pitchers Jeremy Miller, Robby Marlett and Korry Cowher kept Path Valley off the scoreboard for the first three innings and limited further damage to three scores in the fourth and a pair of runs in the sixth for the victory.
Miller tossed the first three innings to pick up the win, striking out six and not walking a batter. Tyler Glashauser pitched the fourth inning striking out one, Korry Cowher went the fifth with two Ks, and Robby Marlett recorded all three outs in the sixth via strikeouts, with one walk.
In the meantime, the 11 and 12-year old All-Stars got out to a quick 2-0 advantage on offense, in the bottom of the first inning and kept building on the lead with four more in the second, a single tally in the third and then two in the fourth and three in the fifth for the 12-5 triumph.
Jeremy Miller pounded out four hits in as many trips to the plate and drove in three RBI to lead the locals, who had 20 hits on offense, and Justin Spanik proved to be the perfect leadoff hitter with three hits in four plate appearances and Korry Cowher also added three hits and had three RBI. Spanik clouted a pair of doubles and Marlett, Cowher, John Romano, Ricky Day and Corbin Nevling-Ray each added one two-bagger. Jeremy Miller belted a triple and Nevling-Ray cleared the fences with a home run.

Playing at Everett, on Saturday, the 11 and 12-year old Tyrone All-Stars opened tournament play by dropping a 4-1 decision to Everett.
All the runs were scored one-at-a-time. Tyrone and Everett matched solo tallies in the top and bottom of the second inning, and Everett added scores in the third, fifth and sixth for the win.
There were only a total of 10 hits in this pitcher’s duel with Everett getting five with Tyler Osterhout, Alfie Diehl, Corbin Nevling-Ray and Jarrod Woomer each hitting singles for Tyrone. Derek Dasher had the game’s only extra-base knock with a double for the locals.
Johnny Romano, who pitched the entire game, struck out five batters for Tyrone, and Diehl drove in the only run scored for the TYBA 11 and -12 year old All-Stars.
A pair of pitchers fanned 11 Tyrone batters for Everett and kept the locals from any scoring after the second inning.
Rhoat drove in one run for Everett and was the only batter on either team to collect two base hits.

On Sunday, against Chestnut Ridge, at Everett, the Tyrone All-Stars rallied to score six times in the top of the third inning with the help of a bases-loaded dinger by Corbin Nevling-Ray, to take the lead. Ridge had scored four in the second to take the early advantage. Tyrone would add another tally in the fourth, but Chestnut Ridge came back with four more scores in the bottom of the fifth and added one more insurance run in the sixth to squeeze past the local 11 and 12-year old All-Stars 9-7.
Nevling-Ray was the big star on offense with five RBI, and a 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double and grand slam home run. Jarrod Woomer drove in two runs for Tyrone. Tyler Osterhout scored two runs for the locals.
Johnny Romano fanned 11 batters and walked five in five innings on the mound for Tyrone, and Tyler Glashauser struck out a pair of hitters with no walks in pitching the sixth.
