Tyrone Hospital officials announced that Linda Wertz, RN has been promoted to the position of Director of Inpatient Services at Tyrone Hospital, effective July 18.
Wertz has been employed at Tyrone Hospital for nearly 27 years. She completed her nursing training at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She completed a coronary care course at the Altoona Hospital and has also achieved certification in inpatient obstetrics nursing.
During her tenure at Tyrone Hospital, she has worked as relief nursing supervisor and also worked in the intensive care unit, and on the medical surgical unit. For the past 23 years, she has held the position of head nurse of the hospital’s obstetrics unit and nursery. Her role on the obstetrics unit includes serving as the unit’s continuing education coordinator, coordinator of the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Shaken Baby Parent Education Program, and the Newborn Hearing Screening Program. She is also an instructor for neo-natal resuscitation.
In addition to her role on the obstetrics unit, Wertz has been cross trained and for some years has provided coverage on various nursing units as needed.
As Director of Inpatient Services, Wertz will be responsible for the management of Tyrone Hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology, the intensive care unit (ICU) and the medical surgical unit.
