Beginning Sunday, July 31, and continuing through Wednesday, August 3, an old-fashioned camp meeting will be held at the picnic pavilion adjacent to the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church.
A covered dish dinner, a youth night and a candlelight communion service are among the special plans for this four-day event. Worship services will begin at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Lewis Barth, a retired United Methodist pastor, as the special speaker. He will be speaking about “The Church” and will use scripture lessons from the Book of Acts for his messages.
On Sunday, persons attending the opening service are asked to join together for a covered dish dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the pavilion. Beverages will be provided and those in attendance are asked to bring table service and a covered dish to share. The worship service will begin at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, August 2, will be youth night. At 6 p.m., prior to the worship service, pizza and soda will be served.
A candlelight communion service is scheduled for the closing night, Wednesday, August 3, beginning at 7 p.m.
Song leader for the four-day event will be the Rev. Norman Huff and his wife, Anna Mae, will be accompanist.
All in attendance are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or something else on which to sit. An offering will be received each evening to cover expenses.
In case of inclement weather, the activities will be held inside the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church.
“This is a special worship opportunity,” said Bald Eagle United Methodist Pastor Michelle Somerville, “and I encourage as many people as possible to join us for any or all of these services.”
