A new pavilion was recently constructed and dedicated at Camp Anderson, just outside of Tyrone. What is known as the ‘Elwood Snyder Pavilion’ is now in use in the campsite that was traditionally known as Troop 27’s campsite at the camp. Money to construct this pavilion was donated by the family of Elwood Snyder, who served for 20 years as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 27 in Tyrone and a respected member of the Scouting community. During the dedication, there were presentations from a representative from the Penns Woods Council Board; Jay Robertson, Camp Manager of Camp Anderson; and Cheryl Baney, on behalf of Elwood Snyder’s family. Mrs. Baney is Elwood Snyder’s daughter. Representatives from local Boy Scouting groups were also on hand for the dedication. They included: Cub Scout Pack 300, Boy Scout Troop 300 and Boy Scout Troop 103. Pictured above are members of Elwood Snyder’s family who gathered for the dedication ceremony at the new pavilion, followed by a picnic. (The Daily Herald/Mark Raffetto)
