Reynoldsville (August 6)—Dwayne Taneyhill and Dwayne Taneyhill, Jr. of Bellwood became the first father and son team since the reopening of Hummingbird Speedway to win their respective divisions features on the same evening.
Other drivers picking up wins on S&T Bank night included Bob Connor of DuBois, Bill McMillen of St. Marys, and Tony Hugill of Mahaffey.
Loren Sallack and Dwayne Taneyhill Sr., led the field of Brookville Wood Products limited late models to the waving of the green flag in their 25-lap feature. After a complete restart, Dave Shagla, Jr. took the point with Taneyhill close behind. Taneyhill found the extreme high line to his liking as he powered by Shagla for the lead on lap 3, and pulled away from the field. Taneyhill and Shagla were running away from the field at the midway point with Denny Lindemuth, Chris Farrell, and Bob McMillen trying to close the gap. Farrell worked hard as he got by Lindemuth for third and then battled side by side with Shagla for a number of laps before taking over the runner up position. Taneyhill was too strong for the field as he went on to take his second win of the season at the speedway. Shagla and Luke Hoffner won the heats.
The 15-lap Prontock Beer Distributing four-cylinder feature was first on the speedway with Scott McCartney and Don Henry leading the way. McCartney took the early lead, and led for two laps before Henry got under him for the lead on lap 3. Henry and McCartney continued their battle for the lead through the midway point with Mike Anderson, McMillen, and Randy Luzier trying to close the gap. A caution brought the field back together on lap 10 setting up for a five-lap dash for the win. McMillen saved his best for last as he worked the low line on Henry for the lead on lap 14, and went on to take his second straight checkered flag and third of the year. McCartney, Henry, and Anderson took the heat race wins.
Gary Little and Jamie Price set the pace for the 20-lap Murray Ford street stock feature. Little led the first circuit before he gave way to Scott Alvetro on lap 2. Alvetro was able to maintain he lead through a number of cautions with Little, Price, and Dom Surra trying to keep things close. Lap 14 saw the caution flag fly for a spinning Pernell Beimel, and during the caution period leader Alvetro pulled to the pit area with mechanical problems. Little inherited the lead and led for two more laps before his car slid high in turn two letting Connor go by for the lead on lap 16. Connor then pulled away for his second straight win and fourth of the season. Connor and Levi Ardery copped the heats.
The 15-lap Community First Bank novice feature was next on the racing surface with Craig Bainey and Paul Kot making up the front row. Kot led the first lap before he gave way to Bainey on the next circuit. Bainey continued to lead through the midway point with Bill Huntington, Mike Donahue, Hugill, and Matt Heindl keeping things close. Hugill worked the low line to perfection as he overtook Bainey for the lead on lap 13. Hugill led for the final two laps and went on to score his first win at the speedway. Bainey and Kot won the heats.
Dwayne Taneyhill Jr. and Chuck Erskine started on the front row of the 10-lap front wheel drive four-cylinder feature. After a complete restart, Taneyhill took the lead, and opened up a sizable advantage on the field. Taneyhill continued to lead at the midway point with Dustin Fields, Brett Fields, Doug Surra, and Erskine trying to close the gap. Taneyhill had too much for the field as he went on to take his third straight win in the division. Brett Fields, Mark Segerberg, and John Spellen won the heats.
