Oliver G. Langer, Jr., age 88, of RD 2, Box 518, Tyrone died Tuesday morning, July 24, 2007 at 12:37 a.m. at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born October 24, 1919 in Altoona, son of the late Oliver G. and Charlotte (Roatch) Langer, Sr.
On October 14, 1939 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Betty V. Coady who survives at home.
Also surviving are three daughters, Judy Marks and Lynda Nimitz, both of Bellwood, Bonnie Haefner of LaMirada, California; a son Randy of LaMirada, California; sisters, Christine Swope of California, and Shirley Crostley, Deany Clapper, and Harriet Knotes, all of Altoona; brother, Lawrence of Altoona, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry.
He retired as an electrician from the State of California Highway Department and was an Army POW during World War II.
He enjoyed being a ham radio operator and spending time with his beloved cat ‘Susie’.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Tyrone Masonic Lodge No. 494 and a member of the South Whittier Lodge VFW.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
Funeral service for Oliver Langer, Jr. will be Friday, July 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, Bellwood with Pastor Robert Cottington officiating. Friends will be received Thursday, July 26 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral parlor. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
