The Tyrone community is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of Tyrone Borough.
To help celebrate this special occasion, Tyrone Borough will be having an open house tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tyrone Municipal Building.
Borough officials would like to cordially invite all borough residents to stop by during this time.
There will be many items on display at the open house from years past, some dating back to 1857.
On the 11th Street side of the municipal building, the new police car will be on display, along with a new backhoe used by the highway department and a new flusher truck used to vacuum out manholes, storm sewers, flush sewer lines, and is used in conjunction with the sewer camera.
Residents are invited to take a tour of the municipal building. Tours of the municipal building will be taking place beginning at 9 a.m. and available until 4 p.m.
Light refreshments will be available all day, but the main time for refreshments will be at 1 p.m., when Mayor Jim Kilmartin will be presenting an anniversary cake. Mayor Kilmartin will also be speaking and introducing the present and former borough council members and former mayors.
State Senator John Eichelberger will be present for this special event and arriving at 1 p.m. State Representatives Jerry Stern and Mike Fleck have been invited and may also be present.
Tyrone residents are encouraged to stop by the festivities.
