School may be back in session but the Last Blast of Summer isn’t until this Sunday.
Frontline Ministries Youthfest is scheduled for this Sunday, September 4 at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park.
“What we’re trying to emphasize is the whole day,” said George Palmer of FrontLine Ministries, “In the past we just had the free concerts, but this year we’re planning an entire day.”
The day begins with a worship service at 11 a.m. featuring Willis, which is comprised of members of worship teams at Lord of Life Church in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Steven Altrogge, son of Lord of Life Pastor Steve Altrogge, will be the guest speaker. For individuals who enjoy a good laugh, The 321 Improv Comedy team will also perform at the Worship Service.
Park patrons will be able to join the hilarious trio again at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. as they present a unique interactive comedy experience for all. During each performance, the trio instantly turns audience suggestions into comedic scenes, no two shows are the same.
321 Improv Comedy is comprised of Carl Crispin, who helped start and traveled with CPR Improv Comedy from 1992 to 2004; J.J. Peterson, a former youth pastor and comedy sports performer and Chris Voth, who for the last nine years has done every job imaginable from bus driver to waiting tables to feed his passion of stand up comedy.
In 2004, Carl, J.J. and Chris decided to combine over 25 years of comedy experience into one group, 321 Improv Comedy. The demand was immediately high to book the new venture. In their first year together, they performed in 20 states and two Canadian Provinces in front of over 25,000 people.
Finally, everyone will be able to enjoy two free shows with Todd Agnew, the featured artist of the day.
Agnew, a Texas native-turned-Memphis transplant, will perform at 3 and 7 p.m.
His debut album sold more than 150,000 copies and produced the hit singles “This Fragile Breath (The Thunder Song)” and “Grace Like Rain”.
“All I can say is don’t miss this dynamic young man,” said Palmer, “He has a powerful voice that will thrill you and penetrate your soul. Somehow he weaves hymns of the faith in and out of his other songs and the result is unbelievable.”
Everyone is invited to visit the park and make a day of the event.
There will be special group rates for the day which includes an all-day waterworks and rides pass and a picnic lunch featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, relish tray and Pepsi. The cost is $15 per person. Call or email FrontLine to make reservations at 684-1515 or flmin@msn.com.
“We’ve really put together a great day,” said Palmer, “and there will be people coming from all over the state so I hope some of our friends here at home will be there too.
“Everybody we have on the schedule is great at what they do. It’s really a great day and DelGrosso’s is a great place.”
All concerts and parking are free so take advantage and don’t miss the Last Blast of Summer.
