Director of Joshua House, Jim Kilmartin, would like to remind area teens that Joshua House is open after school.
The schedule includes a study hour Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. where teens can complete homework, get tutored and have time to study.
Joshua House is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with group games after 6 p.m.; Friday from 9-11 p.m. after home football games and Sunday from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with youth church.
Joshua House is open to kids in sixth through twelfth graders and offers: a computer station with three to four computers online, two TVs with PlayStation2, a pool table, air hockey table, shuffle board table and JHouse Cafe.
Activity Night is Wednesdays after 6 p.m. Teens can join in group games like basketball, wiffleball, Madden tournaments and dodgeball.
Youth Church is a night full of fun, worship and messages open to all young people, including teens and young adults in their twenties and thirties.
JHouse Cafe will be equipped with snacks, drinks and food. Kilmartin said they will also be holding a weekly dinner for teens.
He added that two adults oversee Joshua House at all times.
The community can support Joshua House in many ways. Items needed include: monthly donors of $10, $25, $50 or more; donations of soda, snacks and chips, a new computer and an industrial vacuum cleaner.
“We\’ll start on the second floor when finances get replenished,” said Kilmartin of the renovations. “We welcome the public to stop by and see all the changes we have made.”
Kilmartin added that two scouts are currently working on their Eagle Projects by completing work at Joshua House. Jeff Glace is raising money to build a picnic area behind the building, and Chris Kirkpatrick is working on raised flower beds alongside of the building and between the sidewalk and parking lot.
Upcoming events include a back to school/see you at the pole youth rally on September 18 at 6:30 p.m. Josh Shaffer is leading worship, and Tom Sipling (www.30kd.org) is speaking.
Also, Joshua House is hosting a youth conference on October 28 and 29.
